In the 60s, Huangmei opera played a significant role of Shaw Brothers studio. It is not only the theatrical success , but also of the artistic achievements.
The first SB Huangmei film was "Diau Charn"; followed by "The Kingdom and the Beauty" and "Love Eterne". The latter broke the box office records at the time of release and that classic "Huangmei opera"craze swept Asia for years. Soon, Ivy Ling Po became the most favorite leading figure of the Huangmei opera genre.
