I saw this film many, many times because I like Judge Pao's integrity, he is a man of justice, would even risk his life for the sake of truth. He's indeed an admirable judge. Liu Niang Niang (Kao Pao Shu)was very mean and nasty, she deserved the punishment due her at the end of the story. Justice prevails!
Ling Po excelled in this Huangmei movie. She looked beautiful as an Imperial maid assigned to the most difficult task ever, i.e. to kill the infant prince by throwing him into the river!
The plot, the Huangmei songs (sung by our lovely Ling Po) and colour of costumes are superb!
It was a pity though there wasn't a lot of Ling Po's songs, perhaps it was due to the fact that she was beaten to death early in the storyline.
I'm surprised to see Li Ching in the movie. Her role is brief and the scenes where she appears together with Ling Po in the prison cell are not very distinguishable!
