Synopsis
A scholar was lost on his way home in a fog on Mt Hua. He sheltered in a temple where he saw the statue of Goddess of Mt Hua and at once fell for her. Goddess of Mt Hua was touched by his sincerity and soon they fell in love deeply. However, the fairy-mortal relationship was strongly objected by her brother and thus resulted in her imprisonment under Mt Hua and the scholar's fled away with their baby son ......

How could they let Cheng Pei Pei play the scholar here? She was too feminine and too young for this part, she looked like Lin Dai's daughter!
I could see Elsie Tu in some parts as she took over when Linda died. I love the story but a mismatch of casts. Ivy Ling Po would be the right choice!
I beg to differ. Ling Po might be too young and short to co-star with Lin Dai despite the former will excel in any huangmei operas with both her innate vocal and acting performance. The best male lead should go to Chao Diao, I think.
You're right Amelia, Chao Lei would be the perfect scholar and Ling Po as the son of Linda.
