This 107 minutes of adrenaline rush actioner kept me 'alert and oriented' from beginning till end.

When the disc started spinning, I was kind of expecting another heroic-death ending of Chang Cheh's creation. But surprisingly, it was a happy finale, because my iconic heroes, Fu Sheng and Chi Kuan Kee managed to stay alive!!

In a way, the makers of this movie took their time setting up the story revolving the 2 different martial arts clubs (the good and evil) and introducing the 4 martial arts heroes before the pace picked up once the story was underway.

Fu Sheng, Chi Kuan Kee and all the martial arts heroes had tough, strong physical presence on screen which was undeniable. Besides, they were genuinely good looking men. I presumed they kept themselves trim by daily workouts in an exclusive gym. And the directors no doubt never failed to exploit their qualities.

The downside of "Shaolin Martial Arts" was the introduction of those 2 silly giggling damsels. Their childish behaviors tend towards annoying rather than amusing. In fact, heroes should scorn sentiment and emotions, I think.

Great movie filled with good performances all round particularly Leung Kar Yan in his Shaw debut.
